and not like you're trying to fight on one leg all the time. So I think it's incumbant that, when dealing with that remaining 30ish percent of the population, the initial experience should DAMNED WELL feel welcoming. Some massive percentage of the playerbase (I'd wager like 60-70 percent) will almost by default refuse to participate. PvP is a funny thing - already, in a game like SWTOR, it's only going to appeal to a select few. No matter what, that craft will still be pretty darned handicapped (and if you do the smarter, long term move and buy all the ships with those FPs, you're REALLY going to suck for a while). or the concussion missile tree (or whatever). So why don't more people play it? Why does GSF - clearly, unquestionably - remain a niche PvP activity? Because getting to the point where you're in a position to not get lapped by the competition requires a good 50-60k experience per ship. Even if you (foolishly) blow the entirety of the introduction fleet points on one ship, you're really only going to be able to max out, say, one laser tree. but it can be modestly compelling at times. It's not by any means the best (or even close to it) space fighter I've ever played. And that's a shame, because - outside every match (win or loss) being determined by which side has the better/more gunships - GSF can be pretty fun. However, I'm pretty firmly of the belief that this isn't normal - most people don't seem to bother. I like GSF - I endeavor to at least do my dailies/weeklies on characters I am currently playing (I cannot be bothered with it otherwise).
